Why Country Band Chaparelle is Austin’s Next Breakout Artist …Chaparelle is an Austin-based “throwback country” band formed by indie-folk artist Jesse Woods and indie-pop singer Zella Day, produced by Beau Bedford (Shane Smith & the Saints). Known for their blend of classic country with vintage pop and indie-pop, they are signed to Mom + Pop Music and released the album Western Pleasure.
It me work to defint their genre. Als-Country is best with Indie-Hop thrown in. In an interview they said they were a ‘through back contemporaty bane. No idea what that is. They take note of the music of Bonnie Rait. Go figure. But Chaparrel is a new flavor on the Austin music scene.
Members: Jesse Woods and Zella Day.
Sound: Roots music with ethereal, indie-pop, and classic country influences, featuring strong harmonies.
Origin: Started as songwriting sessions in Wimberley, TX, and evolved into a band while recording in Austin.
Upcoming Shows (2026): Performing at Austin Blues Festival (Apr 25, 2026) and supporting Marcus King at Gruene Hall (May 7, 2026).
